Oldhall Energy from Waste

Murform completed the reinforced concrete, formwork and precast works for Story Contracting at the Oldhall Energy from Waste facility in Irvine.

Our scope included the construction of the concrete substructures, pits, bases and slabs, together with the ancillary reinforced concrete and precast elements to the main bunker and tipping hall buildings.

The project included a number of technically demanding reinforced concrete structures, including crane rail corbels positioned approximately 28m above ground level. Bespoke moulds supplied by SF Formwork were used for the corbels, with Doka hanging platforms providing an efficient working solution without the need for scaffolding extending to ground level.

Murform also installed the precast units to the +10m and +23m floor levels and constructed the infill beams using EFCO’s specialist hanging beam formwork system, combining falsework and edge formwork within a single system.

Further reinforced concrete works included the +12m beam, tipping chutes, drop beams and 7m high walls forming part of the tipping hall.

The works were completed with the construction of the East and West ramps, including the two-stage concrete pour to the East Ramp. The completed ramps form part of the one-way access system serving the 5m-high tipping hall slab, where waste is delivered into the facility.

Murform’s completed package delivered structural concrete, complex formwork and precast installation across some of the key structures within the Oldhall Energy from Waste facility.
